Mark E. Thompson, DO, Medical Director
Dr. Thompson recieved his medical education at Philadelphia college of Osteopathic Medicine.  He served his residency at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, PA and became board certified in Internal Medicine. He then decided to proceed into Radiation Oncology.

He did his internship and residency at SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York and also at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

He is board certified in Radiation Oncology as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He has relocated his family to Lake City and has bought a home.  He and his wife, Laurie,( who rejoins her family that are from Lake City) are very excited about being here.

In Dr Thompson's spare time, he enjoys boating, sailing, golf, camping, music, reading, bible study and spending time with his family.

Cheryll Hayes, MD
After attending Mercer College, Dr.Hayes received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Physics from the Medical College of Georgia (MCG). She continued her academic pursuits at MCG, completing her M.D. degree, Internal Medicine internship, and Radiation Oncology residency there. After a short time in a private clinical practice in Leesburg, Florida, she joined the faculty of the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1998 as an assistant professor.

In 2003, Dr. Hayes left the University practice and is currently the MedicalDirector of the North Florida Cancer Institute and North Florida Radiation Oncology Centers in Gainesville. Dr. Hayes has received numerous awards, including membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, recognition as an Outstanding Womanof the Year by the Jaycees of American, and listing in Who's Who of American College Students.

She serves on many community boards including the American Cancer Society, Advisory Board of Gainesville Health and Fitness, and the Gainesville Theater of Performing Arts. She is a memberof numerous professional societies including ASTRO,ACRO, ASCO,AMA, and the American Brachy therapy Society. Dr.Hayes has a particular interest in breast cancer and the use of Radiosurgery. She is a strong advocate of community education, and gives 30-40 patient focused talks throughout the year. She is activelyinvolved in enhancing "Quality of Life" cancer programs and developing multi-disciplinary cancer management teams at the North Florida Regional Medical Center.

As a former tri-athlete, Dr. Hayes enjoys all typesof sports, and typicallyhits the swimming pool at 4:30am!
